Concrete Driveway Removal Cost in SoCal

Plain 4-inch concrete driveway: $3–$5 per sq ft. Reinforced concrete (rebar): $5–$8 per sq ft. Thick (6-inch+) or post-tension concrete: $7–$12 per sq ft.

For a standard 2-car driveway (400 sq ft), expect $1,200–$2,000. A larger circular or extended driveway (600–800 sq ft) runs $1,800–$4,000. All pricing includes breaking, loading, and hauling.

Driveway Demo Day: What to Expect

Our crew arrives with jackhammers, concrete saws, and a truck. We cut expansion joints first, then break the slab into manageable pieces. Everything is loaded and hauled to a concrete recycling facility — not a landfill.

A standard 2-car driveway takes 4–6 hours with a 2-person crew. Longer driveways or thicker concrete may take a full day.

Does Driveway Removal Require a Permit?

In most Southern California cities, driveway removal does not require a permit. However, if you're removing a driveway apron (the portion connecting to the street/sidewalk), some cities require a permit or have specific backfill requirements for the public right-of-way.

We'll advise you on your specific city's requirements during the estimate.

After the Concrete is Gone

Once the driveway is removed, the sub-base is typically graded and left ready for your concrete contractor, paving company, or landscaper. If you want gravel or a temporary surface installed, we can refer you to our network of SoCal contractors. Call (562) 204-6335.
