Flooring Removal Cost by Type

Carpet removal: $0.75–$1.50 per sq ft. Laminate or vinyl plank: $1.00–$2.00 per sq ft. Hardwood flooring: $1.50–$3.00 per sq ft. Tile over concrete: $2.00–$4.00 per sq ft (mortar bed tile runs higher). Glued-down hardwood or tile: add 30–50% to base pricing.

All pricing includes haul-away. We leave the subfloor clean and ready for your installer.

How Long Does Flooring Removal Take?

Carpet: fast — a 1,000 sq ft home often done in 2–3 hours. Laminate: 3–5 hours for 1,000 sq ft. Tile: the slowest — plan 1–2 full days for a 1,000 sq ft area, more if mortar bed is present.

We bring the right tools: floor scrapers, oscillating cutters, and pry bars to handle any flooring type efficiently.

Can I Keep My Subfloor Intact?

In most cases, yes. For carpet, laminate, and hardwood, we can remove the flooring while preserving the subfloor. Tile is more aggressive — the mortar bed or adhesive often needs to come up too, which can impact the subfloor. We'll assess this during the estimate and tell you what to expect.
